Common Fencing Questions
Do I need to be home during fence installation?
It is not necessary for you to be home during the time that we install your
fence. Please make sure that there are no pets in the yard.
How long will installation take? Normally, installing a
fence takes three days. The first day we will set the posts and allow the
concrete to cure for the second day. The third day we will install the rails and
pickets. Naturally if there is inclement weather, the process can take longer.
Should I use wooden or metal posts? Wooden posts are a less
expensive alternative to metal posts but there is a major difference is quality
and how long they will last. Your wooden posts will rot due to the elements
usually within five years. Metal posts are not compromised by the elements and
will endure almost indefinitely
Should I use chain link or wood? Chain link is the most
economical choice in fencing. It is extremely durable, however, there is a lack
of privacy. A wood fence offers a barrier of sorts and keeps the outside world
from looking in.
Should I use spruce or cedar wood? Either one is a good
choice for your fence. The major difference between the two is basically the
cost and the look. Spruce is a less expensive material and looks like a raw
wood. Cedar is a more expensive material that has a natural red tone. Cedar is
also naturally insect repellent. One material is not better than the other as
far as quality is concerned.
Should I stain or seal my fence? Yes you should. A fence can
be a considerable investment and you should do everything possible to protect
that investment. Given the weather conditions in North Texas, the sun and rain
can seriously deplete the look of your fence and shorten the life of it as well.
Your fence should be stained or sealed yearly in order to protect it from the
elements.
